PSN Launches Foundation, Inaugurates Board

Desirous of promoting the health status of individuals, providing humanitarian assistance to the general public and contributing to national development, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has launched the PSN Foundation and inaugurated its board of Trustees, in Abuja.
Describing the fit as first of its kind in the country, the Honourable Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole who was the special guest of honour at the occasion said the new innovation would boost the healthcare system in the country.
Adewole said “in the history of Professional Association in Nigeria, this is first of its kind and exceptional. Setting up foundation is alien in our culture so we must commend you for this initiative”.
The Minister said that the Federal Ministry of Health was ready to partner with the PSN Foundation in providing health care services to Nigerians.
“To drastically reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria, we need partnership, to improve contraceptive commodities, we need new partnership, to prevent our young ones from dying we need partnership and to improve immunization we need partnership”
He added that the Ministry would do everything possible to ensure that the PSN Foundation survived and achieved its objectives.
Earlier, the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai said that the PSN Foundation would grant scholarship and other financial award to support Education and Research Development in the training and practice of pharmacy.
Yakasai said “the Foundation would support and collaborate with other organizations in the field of Human Health Development, provided the activities arising from such collaborations do not conflict with the objectives of the PSN Foundation”
