MRS LAURAT AJIMA ELAYO, mni is the Director of Legal Services and is heading the Department.
Born on the 15 of May 1961, in Keana, Keana Local Government Council of Nasarawa State. Graduated from University of Jos in 1987 with LLB Degree, proceeded to Nigeria Law School in Lagos where she obtained her BL in 1988 and was called to Bar November 1988. She served the Nation under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State at the Police Headquarters , Owerri. After the completion of her NYSC, took up an appointment with the then Plateau State Civil Service Commission and was posted to Plateau State Ministry of Justice as State Counsel in 1990. After the creation of Nasarawa State, she was redeployed to Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice in 1996 as a Principal State Counsel and rose to the rank of a chief State Counsel.
She transferred her Service from the Civil Service Commission of Nasarawa State to the Nigerian-Export-Import Bank (NEXIM Bank) as Assistant Manager in 2002, rose to the position of a Manager in 2005, by 2010, transferred her Service to the mainstream of the Federal Civil Service, posted to the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Mrs Elayo served as Assistant Legal Adviser in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in 2010-2011 where she was posted to Federal Ministry of Water Resources from 2011 to 2015.
In January 2015, she was nominated to attend the Senior Executive Course at the prestigious National Institute of policy Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State where she bagged the member fellow of the Nation Institute (mni) in November 2015.
She is happily married to Honourable Musa Elayo Abdullahi and is blessed with five Children.
