The Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has urged the newly appointed Acting, Medical Directors of the recently approved Federal Medical Centers in Epe, Lagos State and Misau in Bauchi state respectively to be creative and strive hard to ensure that the mission of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the Health Care System in Nigeria is achieved.
The Honourable Minister, made the charge, while presenting letters of appointments on Acting capacity to Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka, Federal Medical Center Epe, Lagos State and Dr. Rufa'i Abdu Dachi, Federal Medical Center, Misau, Bauchi state in his office on the 5th August, 2024.
Dr. Alausa who informed the newly appointed Acting Medical Directors, that their appointments were on merit, following a thorough assessment of their capability to handle the Health Institutions, hoping that they will rise the facilities to world-class level and provide the people of their respective locations and environs, the opportunity to access tertiary health care services.
The Honourable Minister, narrated that the establishment of the Three additional Federal Medical Centers in Epe, Lagos State, Misau in Bauchi state and Ikoli Ekiti in Ekiti state is a clear testimony of what Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed especially towards provision of quality health care services to the Nigeria populace, in addition to other commitments in power, economy, security and Food Security and many more sectors for the betterment of the citizens.
While assuring full support of the Ministry for the Medical Directors to discharge their duties effectively, Dr. Tunji ALAUSA, further called on them to contact their colleagues from other Federal Medical Centers for sharing ideas, advices on how to move the new Medical facilities to a greater hight, emphasizing that they should quickly work towards establishing school of Nursing with a view to improving manpower capacity.
The State Minister of Health, recalled that the Ministry has increased the enrollment of Nurses from twenty eight thousand to sixty four thousand, ascertaining that the figure,hopefully will shift to one hundred thousand in subsequent year in order to give young men and women the opportunity to get been enrolled.
Dr. Alausa also expressed his gratitude and appreciations to the Governors of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu and that of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Muhammad for converting the Epe Local Government Secretariat and Misau General Hospital respectively for the take up of the Federal Medical Centers, particularly called on Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka, to improve the infrastructural facilities in the Hospital, while Dr. Rufa'i Abdu Dachi charged to take inventory of equipment in the General Hospital allocated by the Bauchi state government to kick up the hospital.
In their separate response, Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka and Dr. Rufa'i Abdu Dachi promised to discharge their duties effectively, assuring that they will not fail in the confidence repose in them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Honourable Minister and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in particular.
They described the establishment of the Medical Centers as a move to expand quality health care services to the citizens and fulfilment of Mr. President Renewed Hope Agenda in touching the lives of the people.
The pioneer Medical Directors, further assured of their willingness to work with the identified personalities and follow them for advices on ways to move their respective centers forward.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director, Hospital Services, Dr.Jimoh Salaudeen mni, informed the Minister that their appointments followed a thorough assessment of their records and Curriculum Vitae and found them fit to serve as Medical Directors of the new Medical Centers on Acting capacity, pending the approval of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be substantive Medical Directors.
He further stated that the three Federal Medical Centers were set up inline with the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, hence the need to present the Acting Medical Directors who are found suitable for the commencements of the Hospitals
Dr. Olakunle Daramola in his closing remarks congratulated the new appointees and urged them carried out thei assignment as expected.
Only two out of the three Acting Medical Directors received their letters while that of Federal Medical Center Ikoli-Ekiti, will be presented in due course.
