FG REAPPOINTS REGISTRAR FOR DENTAL TECHNOLOGISTS’ REGISTRATION BOARD OF NIGERIA

The Federal Government has renewed the appointment in office of Idris Ahmed Bappah as the Registrar/CEO of Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN) for a second and final tenure of 4 years as approved by Federal Government and in line with its established Act.

According to the Press statement issued recently by Deworitshe Patricia, Director (Information) Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the reappointment takes effect from 1st February, 2024 with the reappointment letter signed the Minister of State on behalf of the Federal Government.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary Kachallom Daju mni represented by Dr. Jimoh O. Salaudeen mni, Director (Hospital Services) stated that “the renewal is based on the satisfactory performance of Mr. Idris in the office during his first tenure noting that in line with the Federal Government directives, a committee was set up to evaluate the report of his stewardship of the initial tenure”.

Stating further, she said that it was observed that Mr. Idris facilitated major changes in the agency which include and are not limited to upgrading of the facilities, laboratory equipment, and acquiring land on behalf of the agency.

She explained that the dental technologists have unique specialty as they create dental appliances like dentures, crowns, bridges and braces amongst others to apply aesthetic values and improve the lives and appearances of patients; “therefore the agency must be meticulous in the discharge of its duties and live up to its obligation at all times.”

Congratulating him on the reappointment, she enjoined him to double efforts in carrying out more evidence-based activities such as training the workforce to improve their services, registration of members, strategically checkmating the health workforce oversea migration, urging him to be committed to capacity building and renew technology that can easily improve the wellbeing and welfare of Nigerians.

Receiving his reappointment letter, Mr. Idris revealed that a lot of verifiable progress and achievement was recorded during his first tenure, hence a reappointment letter was given him based on his unwavering efforts to move the agency forward.

He promised that the agency would take positive steps in areas such as increasing the number of intakes, having more dental technology professional schools, bridge the gaps created by the increase in health workers migration (Japa Syndrome), put strategies in place to reduce the spate of quackery, tackle unemployment of dental technologists and expansion of liaison offices across the nation.

He expressed appreciation to the federal government, principal officers of the ministry and committee members for considering fit for reappointment.
